Patagonia e-fibers

Patagonia, noted worldwide for using recycled soda bottles in many outfits polyester fleece garments now offer a whole range of clothing and footwear using fibers and materials that minimize impact on the environment. More than half of Patagonia’s summer clothing collection contains at least one of the following e-fibers: organic cotton, hemp, chlorine-free wool or recycled polyester. 26% of the Spring/Summer 07 collection is fully recyclable!

  • 100% Organic cotton Since 1996, we have used certified 100% organic cotton exclusively. Our cotton is cultivated without genetically modified seeds, synthetic fertilizers or pesticides in an effort to preserve biodiversity and to keep the soil, water and air clean. Not only is this a big advantage for our consumers, but more importantly for all those who work in the cotton production or live near cotton plantations. • Hemp Hemp grows vigorously, requiring very little maintenance, fertilizer, or water. More importantly, it’s naturally rugged nature means hemp can be successfully cultivated without pesticides or other synthetic chemicals. - Chlorine-free wool Chlorine is a pollutant: we use only the highest quality wool from farms with strict environmental standards and respect for the animals (no muesling). The wool is slow-washed, for softness against the skin without the use of chlorine.
  • Recycled Polyester We recycle old plastic bottles, post-industrial plastic waste and our own, worn-out polyester clothing in order to reduce Waste and diminish consumption of non-renewable resources like oil.
  • Recyclable products We take responsibility for our products! Consumers can return their worn out Capilene baselayers, all Polartec-branded fleece from Patagonia (and also our competitors), and Patagonia organic cotton T-shirts. We will recycle them and turn the material into new clothing, which helps to reduce toxic emissions from incinerators and also lowers energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
