Patagonia launches new European website

Patagonia goes online! Patagonia clothing now available at the new European Patagonia Website. After the success of the US and Japanese websites, Patagonia now offers a new possibility to discover their sports and environment activism, and to shop product online at patagonia.com.

After continuously winning awards for design and merchandising for their US website, Patagonia has launched a French and English language Website for the European public. From 01.November 06 on, a rich portfolio of imagery, stories and product will be available across Europe.

After more than two years preparation we are happy to extend the accessibility of our brand to the increasing web community,” says Hervé Chabert, GM Patagonia Europe.

The website presents all products available in Europe, such as fleece, waterproof shells, breathable softshells, baselayers and sportswear, showing all colours per style, and providing in-depth technical garment information. It offers high-end technical features such as product comparison tools, a catalogue quick order feature, and a powerful product zoom that allows the user to see each detail of the garments.

One of the key features is a dealer locator that incorporates Google Map API technology to quickly find the nearest dealer through maps and satellite images.

Adventure stories and first hand expedition reports of Patagonia`s ambassador team members guarantee thrilling reads:

With stunning imagery and unique interviews the site presents alpinists such Steve House, Andy Kirkpatrick, and Laurence Gouault Haston, charismatic climbers such as Lynn Hill, Dean Potter and Fred Rouhling, and surfing legends like Gerry Lopez and the Malloy brothers. Photo and product galleries for skiing, snowboarding, fly fishing, kayaking and Nordic skiing complete the picture.

Next to videos and book recommendations countless articles on Patagonia`s environmental campaigns such as “Oceans as Wilderness”, organic cotton and the new garment recycling programme initiate to become active and protect the environment better.

Patagonia`s company mission is to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis - we have lots of stories to tell, and we are looking forward to sharing them with a new, broader public!

Patagonia, with sales last year of $267M, is noted internationally for its commitment to product quality and environmental activism. Its Environmental Grants Program has contributed over $25M to grassroots environmental activists since the program began in 1985, and its Environmental Internship Program allows employees to work for environmental groups while receiving their full paycheck. Incorporating environmental responsibility into product development, the company has, since 1996, used only organically grown cotton in its clothing line, and was noted worldwide for using recycled soda bottles in many of its polyester fleece garments. Patagonia recently launched a closed loop garment-recycling program in order to give used garments a new life.
